Our Story

Visconti Fine Art was established in 1973 in Milan, Italy and shortly afterwards opened a new space in Vienna, Austria. In 1991 the gallery moved its exhibition spaces to Ljubljana, Slovenia, where it became one of the first privately owned galleries in the region. Visconti Fine Art (Galerija Mestni Trg d.o.o.) can be found in the heart of the old district of Ljubljana at Mestni Trg 18. It is a family owned and run business.

From the beginning the gallery has been very active in the editorial field (Editions by Visconti Fine Art) and edited many graphic editions by important contemporary artists (e.g. Andy Warhol, James Rosenquist, Cy Twombly, Mimmo Paladino, Henry Moore, Luigi Veronesi, Gabrijel Stupica, Vladimir Veličković, Miodrag Djurić-DADO, IRWIN, Safet Zec and Dušan Džamonja). In addition to this, the gallery has participated at many art fairs around the world, including FIAC, Art Madrid, Art Basel, The Original London Print Fair, Art Wien and Verona Art Fair.

The main aim of the gallery at the moment is to present the best artists and their work to the regional public and to promote young and contemporary Slovenian, and ex-Yu artists to the foreign public. In addition to this, the gallery also organizes numerous exhibitions from its collection abroad (ex-Yu region, Italy, etc.), in collaboration with various other galleries, institutions and museums. Some of the recent exhibitions include: American Pop Art in Rovinj, Croatia; American Pop Art exhibition in Belgrade, Serbia, Cuatro Gatos (4 Cats) exhibition of 4 Spanish painters (Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, Antoni Tapies and Joan Miro) in Montenegro; and many more.
