Animals-Myth, symbol and motif in art

New exhibition in our gallery space in old town Ljubljana, Slovenia.

Since the very beginning of artistic creation, animal imagery has held an important position in artistic expression and creativity. Throughout the history of art we find depictions of animals by artists, who either painted them as a difficult artistic challenge and motif, or presented them as symbols and metaphors for their artistic messages and used them as interpretations of ancient mythologies. For our exhibition we chose only a select few prominent Slovenian and foreign artists, who often depicted animals in various interpretations in their oeuvre. The exhibition is, naturally, only a small demonstration of the idea on this art theme, which is actually very extensive and would certainly make an interesting subject for a deeper artistic research and a more comprehensive presentation of the study.

Works by: Hwang Kyu-Baik, Mirsad Begić, Marc Chagall, Salvador Dali, Braco Dimitrijević, Leonor Fini, Foujita, IRWIN, Marko Jakše, Živko Marušič, Zoran Mušič, Pablo Picasso, Robert Rauschenberg, Niki de Saint Phalle, Andraž Šalamun, Čoro Škodlar, Jože Tisnikar, Vladimir Veličković, Andy Warhol, etc.

The exhibition is open on Thursdays and Fridays from 5pm to 8pm and Saturdays from 10am to 1pm.
