Robert Longo is an American painter and sculptor best known for his detailed photo-realistic drawings of jumping figures, sharks, tigers, and guns. His artworks examine the role of politics and power in our society. “Art is an attempt to try and understand our own contemporary situation through making images that are completely personal, while also addressing our social context.” – the artist said. Influenced by sculpture, his drawings are almost three-dimensional and look like they could pop off the page and enter physical space at any time. “Black Flag” is a three-dimensional print from the same name series of different media artworks including sculptures, paintings, prints… Those flags are talking about power, violence, patriotism and identity.
