Composition. Original color silkscreen and relief print, 1973. Edition of 75 signed and numbered impressions on Arches paper.
Shu Takahashi was Japanese modern and contemporary artist, who lived in Rome in a part of his life and also worked as a professor in Kurashiki University of Science and The Arts in Japan. He inducted the “Kurashiki Modern Art Biennale in West Japan”, to promote Kurashiki as a place of transmission for new art in Japan and in order to guide young artists. That was his effort to decentralized the over-concentrated culture from Tokio into the other cities and towns. In Japan, Takahashi also founded the Nouveau Group, a movement that would revolutionize the visual artistic language. His art is characterized by vibrant organic abstract forms, and shapes are defined only by colors of themselves.
