Description

“Drawing in 3 sections #1”. Original color aquatint, unknown year. Edition of 30 signed and numbered impressions on Arches paper.
David Tremlett is an English contemporary sculptor, installation and graphic artist and photographer, born on February 13th, 1945, in Dartford, Kent, England. From 1962 to 1963 he attended the Falmouth College of Art, and went on to study sculpture at the Birmingham School of Art from 1963 to 1966 and afterwards at the Royal College of Art in London. He became well known for his wall drawings in the ‘70s, and in the ‘80s pastel became his primary media. Though a great deal of effort went into each work, Tremlett did not exclusively choose locations that would ensure a permanent existence for his artwork. Many of his wall drawings are short-lived, weathered away by the forces of nature, or simply painted over. He has been travelling around the world since the late ‘70s, creating site specific artworks, most notably at the British embassy in Berlin, the British council building in Nairobi, the Capella delle Brunate at La Morra, Barolo, and the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul in Villenauxe-La-Grande. He lives and works in Bovingdon, Herts, England.
