Description

II. Original color silkscreen, unknown year. Edition of 35 signed and numbered impressions on Arches paper.
Vjenceslav Richter is one of the most important Croatian architecture, but he is also known as a sculptor, graphic artist, painter and scenographer. He designed exhibition pavilions, museum buildings, organised the first Zagreb Triennial – an art and design festival, and also involved in industrial and interior design. Richter experimented and explored with his intriguing artworks, transitioning from media to media and trying to create a better and more humane environment for human and society. What he tried to do in the formats and media of architecture, we can find in paintings, graphics or sculptures and conversely, carrying out the principle of artistic synthesis. He was a visionary, ahead of its time, with a lot of utopian ideas, and he believed there are no differences between “pure” art and “applied” art. Each print of this series contains patterns which imitate his incredible sculptures. Those patterns create an illusion of different relief forms.
