Valerio Adami is an Italian artist knows for his Nouvelle Figuration movement. Adami began to incorporate various subjects into his artworks such as modern European history, literature, philosophy, and mythology. In this image Adami seeks inspiration in European History more specifically the French revolution. In the image he depicts the death of Marat who was the leader of the radical Montagnard faction during the French Revolution.
