Sol LeWitt was a well-known American Conceptual and Minimal artist. He is famous for his sculptures, wall drawings, gouaches and prints even though he didn’t want this fame. The concept or idea was the most important for his work and he had no interest in inherent narrative or descriptive imagery. “If the artist carried through his idea and makes it into visible form, then all the steps in the process are of importance. The idea itself, even if not made visual, is as much a work of art as any finished product.” – LeWitt. His art is reduced to a basic shapes – spheres, triangles and quadrilateral, but also colored with basic colors – red, yellow, blue and black. He made types of lines, and organized them by guidelines he felt in the end free to bend. In this portfolio LeWitt explored lines and colors, so we can see here five different prints with tiny lines in four direction (horizontal, vertical and two diagonal). Every one of them seems to has different textures and has different shades of each colors.
