Giuseppe Santomaso was an Italian abstract painter and one of the main figures of the non-figurative art of the 20th century in Venice. He combined the millennial pictorial and luministic tradition of the Venetian painting with the abstract forms of the 20th century’s international Avant-gardes. As one of the main supporters and promoters of radical artistic groups such as Fronte Nuovo delle Arti and Gruppo degli Otto, he recreated the dynamics of reality through his paintings, both from a physical and emotional point of view. Santomaso’s artworks are revived by a continuous vibration with technical, formal, compositional and chromatic elements that reveal experiences we make out of it through our senses and emotions, purified by the filter of thought and imagination.
