Description

Untitled. Original color etching, unknown year. Edition of P.A. (Proba Artist) E.A. signed and numbered impressions on Arches paper.
Sandro Bracchitta is an Italian printmaker, well known for his abstract compositions. His ability to combine ink, steel, gold leaves, oxidized iron, carborundum and lava stone is timeless. Bracchita’s art is an incarnation of conflicts, fears, but also the hope of human existence in the form of a surrealist effect. The art came less from ideas than from his perception and his intuition, he said. He thinks in forms and invents metaphors for things that touch his daily life. An important element of Bracchitta’s art is a house, which we can see here at the bottom of the left side. This red house is very simple, straightforward and geometric. It has no windows, neither a door, so it alludes that there is no contact with the outside world and no possibility to escape.
