Edo Murtić was a Croatian painter, graphic artist and theater scenographer. In postmodernistic’s era Murtić started to create abstract landscapes and artworks with symbolic indications. His artworks are characterized with an aggressive use of colors, thick brush strokes and wide swings of a hand. The color was the fundamental constitutional element of his artistic creations and it released primal strength of his curious nature and free spirit. Confronting the verticals and horizontals with sharp, violent gestures, Murtić created rhythmic dynamic structures of colorful compositions. We see two colors in this graphic – yellow and red, and they occupy a small part of the surface. The biggest part of the surface is covered with black which function here is quite specific, it should enhance the effectiveness of the used color range.
